2026/2027 National Service – Warehouse Operations
You will support the daily movement and control of parcels through the warehouse, from inbound receipt to sorting, fulfilment, returns and dispatch handover. You will count and inspect items, record discrepancies, label and receive stock in the system, pick and pack accurately, maintain clean records and work safely in a physically active environment.

What you will do.
- Receive inbound consignments against manifests, count every parcel and inspect packaging for damage, tampering or incorrect labelling.
- Record shortages, excess items, damage and other discrepancies immediately, and hold or escalate unresolved items before acceptance.
- Label or scan parcels, complete system receipt and place each item in the correct staging or storage location.
- Maintain accurate inventory, location and movement records, perform cycle counts and reconcile physical stock with system balances.
- Sort and consolidate parcels by route, branch, client, destination or service priority while preventing mix-ups.
- Pick, pack, quality-check and label fulfilment orders against the approved order or picking list.
- Process returns by checking condition and reason, updating the status and routing each item for the approved next action.
- Prepare outbound loads and manifests and hand parcels to Dispatch, riders or drivers with verified counts and documented sign-off.
- Maintain warehouse logs and prepare shift reports on receipts, movements, discrepancies, damage, returns and outstanding items.
- Keep work areas clean and organised and follow parcel-security, manual-handling, fire-safety and general housekeeping procedures.
What you will need.
- Will have completed all academic requirements and be eligible for the 2026/2027 National Service year before the official commencement date.
- Able and willing to perform on-site, physically active duties including counting, sorting, packing, extended standing and safe movement of parcels within approved procedures.
- Basic numeracy and the ability to read manifests, labels, quantities, order details and location codes accurately.
- Basic computer or mobile-device skills and willingness to use spreadsheets, scanners and a warehouse or inventory system.
- Careful attention to parcel condition, labels and status, with the integrity to report discrepancies rather than conceal them.
- Reliable attendance and readiness to follow the branch operating schedule and complete documented handovers.
- Able to follow safety and security controls and communicate clearly with warehouse, dispatch and fulfilment colleagues.
Good to have.
- Relevant coursework or practical experience in logistics, supply chain, procurement, warehousing, inventory, retail stock or fulfilment.
- Experience using barcode scanners, inventory software, warehouse-management systems or ERP tools.
- Experience with picking, packing, e-commerce fulfilment, stocktaking or returns processing.
- Training in manual handling, occupational health and safety, fire safety or warehouse security.
