2026/2027 National Service – Technology

You will work with the Technology team to improve the systems used by customers, dispatchers and other SHAQ EXPRESS teams. In a typical week you may investigate an issue, deliver a small feature or interface improvement, test a change, update Git and documentation, and support users; placements may focus on Laravel/PHP backend, Flutter/Dart mobile, React/TypeScript or Next.js web, UI/UX, QA or product support, and you are not expected to know every stack.

  • Location Multiple locations
  • Type National Service
  • Applications Always open
  • Reference SHQ-TEC-0009

What you will do.

  • Clarify assigned issues or feature requests with product, operations and the people who use the system
  • Implement or support scoped backend, mobile, web, UI/UX, QA or product-support work in your area of strength
  • Reproduce defects, inspect relevant logs, APIs or data, and document the evidence before proposing a fix
  • Build or refine user flows, interfaces, components, endpoints or integrations according to the approved task
  • Write and run appropriate unit, integration, manual or regression tests before handing over changes
  • Use Git branches, clear commits and pull requests so work can be reviewed and traced
  • Review feedback, correct defects and retest changes across the affected user journey
  • Maintain concise technical notes, setup instructions, release notes and user-facing guidance
  • Support users during testing or rollout, record recurring problems and escalate incidents appropriately
  • Protect credentials and operational data and follow access, security and change-control procedures

What you will need.

  • Have completed, or be on track to complete, the academic requirements for Ghana’s 2026/2027 National Service year
  • Demonstrate a sound foundation in at least one relevant area through a project, repository, portfolio or practical exercise
  • Explain your own contribution to a project, the problem encountered and how you investigated or resolved it
  • Use Git for branches, commits and collaboration, or demonstrate equivalent version-control experience
  • Read technical information, communicate clearly and write usable documentation in English
  • Break problems into testable steps, verify assumptions and ask focused questions when requirements are unclear
  • Be willing to work on-site with the relevant team and follow security, privacy and data-access rules

Good to have.

  • Hands-on experience with Laravel/PHP, Flutter/Dart, React/TypeScript or Next.js
  • Experience with REST APIs, SQL, relational databases or operational dashboards
  • UI/UX experience using Figma, design systems or accessibility principles
  • Exposure to automated testing, logging, CI/CD, cloud services or application monitoring
  • Experience supporting an internal operations, logistics, e-commerce or customer-service product
